Cream Peas on Toast

This is a funny-looking recipe, but it sure hits the spot when you want some homecookin’!

Thin:

  • 1 T margarine
  • 1 T flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk

Medium:

  • 1 ½-2 T margarine
  • 2 T flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk

Thick:

  • 2-3 T margarine
  • 3 T flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk

Very Thick:

  • 3-4 T margarine
  • 4 T flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk

Melt margarine over low heat. Remove from burner. Add flour and salt. Stir till smooth. Add milk, gradually, stirring constantly. Cook over medium heat till white sauce thickens, continuing to stir. Stir in peas.
